The Harmony Museum has designated Mercer Street Log Cabin for the preservation of spinning and weaving, a handcraft that was prevalant with the Harmonist founders of 1804-1814. Our aim is to introduce the Crafts so that you may enjoy it as much as we do.
Spinning:
Lessons: $25 per 3 hour session.
Just Spinning: There is a charge of $2.00 per hour. You may bring your own fleece or select from our supply. there will be an instructor here to assist you.
Weaving:
Lessons: $25 per 2 hour session.
Just Weaving: Make a project using our loom which has been dressed, $5.00 per hour, plus the cost of the warp on the loom and weft from our supply (you may bring your own weft from home). There will be an instructor here to assist you.
More Just Weaving: Make a project that would need specific color or colors of warp, we dress the loom to your specifications for $50.00. Then above costs for loom rentals apply.
Basic Weaving: A Complete Instruction From Beginning to End: Set up warp, warp, draft, dressing loom, first project (your choice). Supplies for lessons will be furnished, supplies for your project will be your cost. $195.00 (10 sessions).
Dates and times are flexible to suit both the students and the instructors. While the above fees are set, feel free to talk to us about arrangements that might suit your needs more.
